The color is a major player in the design world and rightly so because of its effects on the entire room and the decoration project. But deciding on the color scheme is sometimes right where most people stay stuck.
Selecting a color can certainly be a challenge to design professionals. This means that the total frustration for most of us beginners. But wait, do not worry right now … You are on the point to learn more about color schemes that will help you think like the pro's.
Understand color and how it affects your mood and feelings is the key to unlocking the mystery of color. Did you know that color can excite you, make you feel happy, comfortable and relaxed, anxious and even sad?
Color can also make small spaces appear larger and large spaces seem smaller. Color can make or break your overall project design. The same color can make or break a sale. Yes, color is an extremely powerful tool in the design world and in your personal world.
Start with the color wheel base. It was designed to teach us the relationship of color. You've heard of designers of color combinations and relationships. The color wheel helps with this.
On the color wheel, you'll see the primary colors (red, yellow and blue) at regular intervals between the secondary colors (orange, green and purple). And then there's the third or tertiary colors, which blend the colors adjacent or similar and colors, finally, the fourth or quaternary.
The most basic rule is the color that the colors are either warm or cold. Warm colors advance or arise while cool colors tend to recede or move. If you are attracted to warm colors as red and yellow? Or cool colors like blues and greens?
Colors are warm, hospitable, comfortable, relaxing and intimate. Cool colors are refreshing, more reserved, soothes and calms.
If you draw a line down the middle of the color wheel, warm colors and cold are on opposite faces of the other. Each color has a warm compliment cool.
How well do you decide on your choice of color? A Once you have narrowed your selection (and I might add at this stage to refine your selection to three choices), take the paint chips or samples home.
Most paint companies now have more paint chips so you can the experience of your color swatches effectively. I take a step further by buying my first three paint colors quart size (size not gallon) cans and paint each color on a scoreboard. (Paint chips are simply not big enough for me.) I then hit the billboards on my wall in the room to paint. I live with these three colors for a few days … knows the day and night.
You see the lighting has a major effect Color. Both daylight and night will change the look of your color, guaranteed. So live with your choice of colors in the poster boards for a few days and then you know for sure who is the best color for your color scheme.
Some people ask me if it's ok to paint the walls accent, or have one or two colors in the same room. I say absolutely. Color is intriguing not only on the choice of colors you want, but the choice friendly, livable colors that produce dramatic effects.
That's what the focus to walls. Choose a color that appears, add excitement and works well with other colors in the room. You can also switch colors accent from room to room.
It there really is no rule but you should choose colors that relate well with living color schemes already around you. Some colors are not working well together, and that's what you want to avoid.
Therefore, manufacturers paint colors arranged with kindness – In the close relations which reinforce one another in their aprons paint (chips books paint, you can buy in the store). In pushing the paint on the bridge, you can choose related colors more easily.
Now, if you do not like the idea of multiple sets of related colors in your house, you can choose to use any program-color house them into a single color. This one-regime continuous color can make a small room seem larger and give a feeling of harmony and serenity.
A game called monochromatic colors come in two varieties – you can use one color or tonal variations of the same color. Monochromatic color schemes are considered very very chic and contemporary fashion.
Most commonly used schemes are monochromatic white and beige, but beware – white and beige tend to highlight flaws. You want to make sure that all your white and beige are either cold or warm and inject patterns and textures for added interest.
Here are some tips to remember:
To make a room look larger use light, cool colors.
To make a room cozier and inviting, Use warm colors.
To make a higher ceiling, use white or light colors.
To remove the ceiling down and make use of dark colors.
Some say the best of all time rule follow is:
Your main areas – floors, walls and ceilings – should be neutralized colors in a range of values. Make the soil surface darker, the middle of the walls and ceiling the lightest value.
Your color schemes to start with your choice of fabric, upholstery, and furniture selections. All must relate with each other. Of course Other components to consider in the space are the window treatments, rugs, carpets, tiles and accessories such as lamps, pillows, vases and so on.
Do not let all this scare you. Start with your windows Furniture to see which enlightens all appetites. Take notes, make your magazine tear-outs. It will be clear to you fairly quickly what you like and dislike not. Your color scheme will begin to emerge as you want in a beautiful room that says is you.
