John Cena

John Cena is the most inspirational wrestler in the world?
I don’t understand why you people hate him. He has 20 moves not 5 so stop being a hater. He hasn’t missed an episode of Raw since he debuted. He’s always nice to his fans unlike [cough] Chris Jericho. I think you all are just jealous of John Cena because you’ll never be as rich, handsome, and successful as him.
John Cena is not the ‘most inspirational wrestler in the world’, however, the hatred towards him has been exaggerated by those who claim to be fans of wrestling. They do not search for detail in any situation, leaving them at a disadvantage when attempting to solve a problem, or, answer a question. Let me begin by explaining the complication with his ‘limited’ moveset.
As World Wrestling Entertainment changed, many performers within the company were assigned with refreshing, new gimmicks. When John debuted with this company in 2002, he was given the task of presenting an ‘extremely face’ persona to the crowd, which I believe was a sign that the promotion had originally been planning greater feuds, matches and success for him, come the future. The reason as to why I have been lead to think this is rather simple in comparison with the other things that I have to say; he was introduced as a face for multiple reasons – if the crowd responded in an unanticipated way, the transformation from face to heel would be much easier than the change of heel to face. The promotion was also attempting to make crowd members ‘like him’, along with seeing how he works as a face in case of future plans to make him a permanent one. He was also named ‘The Prototype’, indirectly suggesting that the company had ‘just begun’ with him.
John Cena is targeted at a specific audience, as is every professional wrestler. Choreographers were hired to direct the actions of each wrestler, leaving the less ‘politically aware’ performer at a disadvantage. Because John did become involved with the political antics in the promotion, he was able to have a meaningful say when it came to the direction each of his matches were taking, although he was still left with an arm tied behind his back due to his targeted audience being, in fact, younger fans of the federation. This plays a big part in his character’s ‘duties’; his moves are limited, specifically by the choreographers, in order to create a buzz between those in attendance. A shorter moveset, filled with ‘prestigious’ moves will automatically create this wanted feedback from the crowd faster due to the shorter time it takes for him to perform them; momentum will become apparent due to the anticipation levels in the younger fans, who have shorter attention spans, giving them a better viewing when met with one of Cena’s matches.
Eventually, he became prone to earning a new character; the diverse, hated rebel, John Cena. Because, as a heel, your job is to collect ‘heat’ from the audience as opposed to a ‘positive reaction’, (people disliked him, either because they were playing along with his ‘heel’ dimension or for the simple fact that they did not enjoy confrontation from this ‘aggressive, cocky man’) he was not targeted at any specific audience. Because of this and the fact that he was not as politically stable as he has become, he had a greater freedom and choice when performing moves inside of the ring; he wasn’t there to impress, he was there to showcase his in-ring potential and capability.
I will say, with full confidence, that John Cena is very political when he feels the need to be. He has helped in proceedings to ‘get a fellow wrestler fired’, and his reason for doing so was not, unfortunately, ‘up to scratch’. People will criticize this man for following the companies directions, but that is his job. I dont, however, respect him due to his ‘publicly unknown’ political past, but I have to say, “No.” when I see a question about John that either opposes him in a stereotypical way or praises him in an exaggerated way. To say that all of World Wrestling Entertainment’s fans will never be as rich, handsome or successful as him is an understatement and insult. Predicting somebodies future because they simply disagree with you is taking a situation too far. With hard work and dedication, the sky truly is the limit. Also, ‘Chris Jericho’ is a character. He insults his fans, for, as I mentioned earlier, bad feedback from the crowd. He is there to annoy the viewing public; he is a heel.
