Grade Wrestling
Appenzell is a small area north-east Switzerland is divided into two half-cantons, Appenzell Outer Rhodes and Inner Rhodes. They joined the Confederation Switzerland in 1513 as Appenzell and have been the 13th district to join. The Outer Rhodes Appenzell broke with Catholic in 1597 when, despite the efforts of three State Councilors Berne, failed to mediate between the parties. They accepted the division of Appenzell, with two half-cantons, mainly on religious lines – Outer-Rhodes with twenty parishes and Appenzell be Protestant parish with five other parishes remains attached to the old religion.
Subsequently, the two cantons of Appenzell remained stable and at peace with its neighbors until Napoleon invaded in the 1798 to 1802.
The Flag of Appenzell is a Standing Bear silver on its hind legs against the authority and power of the Abbot of St Gallen. The bear showing its claws and penis and tongue tight as a mark of defiance against the Almighty Father! Indeed, although divided by religion and culture are Appenzeller a people united in adversity from outside. This is indicative of the Swiss psyche in general and personified by their cantonal flags.
The story goes that during the French occupation of Napoleon's army Switzerland has destroyed all the flags of the cantons of the Confederation with the exception of Appenzell. The reason being as a quick-witted Appenzeller informed the officer concerned that their RV to their chalet iva V R EPUBLIC!
The cantons of Appenzell developed in stable conditions after the French Revolution and the Swiss declared neutrality "and the international recognition of it by the Treaty of Vienna in 1848.
Investment and population increased and the agricultural industry has become the backbone of the rural economy in Switzerland. With the communications transport improvements, heavy industry increasingly based on the construction of railways, locomotives and rolling stock around Winterthur and military weapons around Zurich.
Swiss neutrality brought with her and the Banking and insurance industry, which is universally known that day. Around a huge Basel pharmaceutical industry with names such as Ciby-Geigy and Novartis rose, etc. All these industries and sectors expanded with the two wars world and the largest industry remains agriculture and tourism later. The watch industry and precision although small, contributes much to be a good export support for Swiss.
Although largely rural, the Swiss have developed a sophisticated tourist industry which, despite the constant reassessment of the Swiss franc and competition elsewhere in Europe, has nevertheless remained highly competitive, which offers variety and a very good value for money.
However, it is agriculture, its traditional lifestyle and tourism course is that 'Appenzell (the two cantons of Appenzell) is famous for, and no wonder! Their culture is rich, it is very traditional and they will not change their habits too easily!

- Fairs farmers and other outdoor traditions such as the fight by the Swiss Säntis.
- To look at early May and late August processions of farm animals up or down, farmers and their chldren all in their most beautiful colorful costumes and lush pastures to Appenzell.

- The friendly people, but sometimes very guarded premises once they have overcome their shyness, become your friends for life.
- Last but not least his own and unusual expression of democracy through the annual "Landesversammlung", which meets outdoors in Appenzell in April each year so that the laws passed by the Appenzell (innere) Parliament are they approved by the people.
Finally, if you do not come to Switzerland for a trip regardless of long or short your stay will be your camera or camcorder will work overtime – it is almost too much to see and do! Remember "Appenzellerland," Switzerland in miniature!
